Marines are notoriously stubborn creatures and we don’t quit easily. Granted that is partly due to the fact that gunfights are notoriously unkind to the second-place finisher. Yet, there is much to be said about that mentality that translates well to the business sector. You see, people like to say that they “can’t quit” or “can’t give up” when in reality, that is not altogether true. People quit all the time. They quit on hobbies, diets, relationships, marriages, and more with greater frequency than they imagine. Very few people have been in scenarios where quitting is simply not an option. Thank you to the United States Marine Corps for gifting me such experiences. As the TicketBunny journey began to unfold, I encountered one expert after the other who said something along the lines of, “Zero-fees sounds good, but you gotta charge fees.” To me, it all sounded like someone telling the Marines that there is no way they’re going to plant that flag at the top of Mount Suribachi.
