My service in the US Army 25th ID gave me the discipline and confidence to accomplish many things I never thought possible. As an 11B there were times when I thought I could not take one more step with the 85lbs on my back (usually around mile 10), but upon completion of that thought I had already had taken that next step, and the next, and the next. I would take those steps not only for the mission but also my buddies, because they were depending on me to do my job. I could not make the mountain less steep, the temperature cooler or hotter, the ground smoother, all I could do was take that next step. Now I know that when faced with an adverse situation I can overcome almost anything if I only take that next step. Having also been a police officer (because 11 bang bangs are well suited for that occupation) I know firsthand your mission is critical and lives are at stake.
